Since then, fancy dress costume parties have been on the increase really since the 1940’s in the UK, in a simpler form compared to today, until the 1970’s. This could be coupled to the increase of film/television programmes being aired throughout the country, resulting in improved imagination and better manufacturing processes opening a new era in the costume industry.
It wasn’t until the 1990’s that the purchasing of costumes in the UK became commonplace. Prior to this, costumes were typically hired for a social or recreational event, and returned to the shop once worn. It’s now hard to find many retail fancy dress shops in local towns, or ones that offer a full range you would expect from a fancy dress retailer, especially since the internet provided home shopping access, no matter where you lived. This meant that fancy dress shops could operate online, have access to a much wider audience and also be able to carry a fuller range of costumes and accessories without having to worry about expensive retail premises or shop fronts. There are still some companies who offer mail hire costume ordering, but purchasing of costumes has now become the standard.
If you want to wear something more practical, take a look at traditional Mexican clothing. They are comfortable and attractive at the same time. Women can simply wear a peasant blouse and a long colorful skirt. If you can find items in red, green and white, all the better. These are the colors of the Mexican flag, which are very appropriate for Cinco de Mayo. Pull your hair back and tie it with bright ribbons or put colorful tissue paper flowers in your hair. Huaraches, those comfortable leather sandals you see every summer are an excellent shoe to wear. They will be comfortable while you dance and still look authentic.
For men, look for loose, comfortable pants and a simple white shirt. If you have access to a woven serape or poncho, wear it. Use a bandana or sombrero to finish your party outfit. Boots work well as shoes. Put on a smile and you are ready to party.

Designer shoes cost a lot of money. In fact anything designer represents selling the name of an individual. Making your own costume
The Ghostbuster costume can be a difficult costume to make but can be done relatively cheaply. Firstly you need a beige/white jump or flight suit, these can be found at most army surplus shops and then attach the Ghostbusters logo to the sleeves, these can be bought online. You will also need some black gloves and some black shoes or boots. Don’t forget about the red and black name tags attached to the front. If you are interested in creating the full back pack then it can be made using wood and plastic and eventually painted black with added green and red buttons. Use house hold implements attached to a wooden board such as washing up bottles or toilet rolls. Obviously this is the hard part and I thoroughly recommend fully studying pictures and the film before attempting to do this element of the costume. If you use a wooden backing don’t forget to sand down the edges in order to make it completely safe and use light wood such as MDF in order to make it as easy as possible to carry.

It would definitely be a plus if the shop where you bought your wedding gown would make alterations or changes for free or for a low cost to fit within your allowed budget.
